Nightmares Nightmares and more Nightmares

For the last few nights Martin wakes up around 2 am with either being eaten by a Big Purple Monster, His bed and him being on fire or his hand was dying.
On top of the nightmares he also sleep talks which sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night. One night I waked passed his room and he was sitting up holding his sippy cup and talking to it. " I want a milk sippy cup but mom won't let me have one I can only have water." He continued talking but it sounded like he put his sippy cup in time out. So Yes Martin does take after the Bremners' with the sleep talking.

I could use any advice when it comes to nightmares. We read happy books before bed, I sing songs and Martin get 5 mins of cuddle time with me before bed BUT he still has nightmares. Any Ideas?

Roxie officially cut her first tooth and Yes she is back to sleeping though the night.
Now we just need to get Martin to sleep.

Don't hurt this car!

Doug here. Just a short note to talk about Martin sticking up for the Ford Focus today on the way home from church.

Unlike most June's in Arizona, this June has been unseasonably cool. Cool is relative, since for us a June with 89-95 degree temps is really cool. Usually the majority of the days in June are 100+ with usually about 10 days above 110.

Today was in the low 100's however, so when I put Martin into the car it was pretty hot from sitting for three hours, and he was pretty uncomfortable. He then started his questions:

-Daddy, why is the car so hot?

-Because the sun is hitting the car and making it hot.

-Why is the sun doing that?

-Because it's the sun and that's what it does

-Daddy, can I talk to the sun through the window?

-Sure. Go for it.

-Hey Sun, don't hurt this car! You be nice to our car. Don't hurt our car because we need to use it. Don't be mean to our car or you will break it and Daddy will have to use his man-powers to fix it!

Teething, NO Sleep and Nightmare...

The picture is of Doug and Martin at Amazing Jake's

When does it end? Recently Martin has been waking up in the middle of the night calling for him Dad because he has a nightmare. Everything from the house and him being on fire to his hand falling asleep to Mr Crabs from Sponge Bob to being scared in the old house. oh and poor Martin has inherited the Bremner Sleep talking too so around 11pm every other night he sits up in his bed and talks to his sippy cup or Nish (his stuffed puppy he made at build a bear as a Christmas present from his Aunt Kristi and cousins.)

Than Roxie is cutting a tooth and yes we are excited but at the same time I wish she would sleep. She wakes up every 3 hours screaming in pain and I nurses her for about 10 mins and than give her the pacifier until she falls back asleep for maybe 2 to three hours. I hate using Tylenol unless its the last option otherwise I use teething creams and tablets . I'm all ears for advice on teething. Teething never seems to bother Martin and we were already used to no sleeping but Roxie has been sleep though the night until June. Doug and I look like the walking dead with dark circles under our eyes.

The worst part is I can't seem to find " THE SLEEP BOOK" and it the bible to getting kids to sleep though the night!!

I'm beginning to think we will never sleep again until our kids are Married!!

Amazing Jake's Birthday Photos

Martin Turns 3 again and again.

For Martin's 3rd birthday Doug and I decided to treat him to Amazing Jake's. Everyone who had been there just raved about how much fun they had and its a great place for kids. It is a great place for kids but not so much for a 3 year old. BUT some how Martin seem to have the time of his life. He had all you can eat Pizza, cookies and Ice Cream and we play games like wack A Mole and skee ball (which all the kids has to do is place the ball inside the hole or they can throw.) Than for the topping on the cake Martin and I went on the Go-Carts. I was a little worried because I wasn't sure he would climb in the car and wear the seat belt but not only did he get into the car he jumped into the car and so was excited. After a while he wanted me to go faster and he waved to everyone as we drove on by! Than after a few hours and 146 tickets later we cashed out with 10 Dumb Dumb Sucker, a bouncy ball and more candy than any 3 year old should have. Because the whole family couldn't get together Friday night we decided to do Cake and Present on Sunday.

Now thinking like a kid but being an adult I thought Martin would LOVE to open his presents and just tear into them. That wasn't the case he would question each of his presents with " What is in there?" and VERY VERY slowly open each gift. ( He had just woken up from his nap and he was a very big pain in the butt.)

In the end he seem to enjoy Aunt Kristi Wimmer present a Car she bought him and his books from Grandpa Wimmer. Grandma Wimmer bought him clothes and big boy underwear in hopes it will in courage potty training and his Daddy and I bought; Tools kit, Bubble lawnmower, a car and clothes.

I will post some pictures but yes Martin asked me to make popcorn cupcakes for his Birthday cake because he LOVE POPCORN!!

Old Video Of Martin

My Little Gentleman.

Yesterday at the Library we were going to go up the elevator when two other moms and there daughters asked us to hold the elevator. I showed Martin what buttons to push to hold the doors open. As everyone was getting out of the elevator I explained to Martin he would have to wait for all the ladies to leave first. Now I personally thought he didn't listen to me and he would start to run out of the elevator the second the doors opened. Well I was wrong he waited for all the ladies to leave and than he walked out. I was so proud of Martin!!
After story time we went back to the elevator as I was about to get on he said " We have to wait for the ladies to get on first." I smiles and we waited. Than inside a little girl was trying to push the button but she wasn't sure which ones so I asked Martin if he would help her and he was so patience showing her what to do. When we left the elevator the woman told me she was extremely impressed with how well behaved and what a gentleman Martin was. I have to admit I was impressed too and I leaved I don't give Martin enough credit after all he is only 3 and to be honest most adult men do not even open door for woman!! I'm training them young!!

The Very Bad Bug

I need to accept its just away of life in Arizona scorpions are everywhere!! Yesterday I sent Martin into the back yard to play and 2 seconds later he came running back into the house talking about a HUGE spider. I look out the door and saw what looked like a brown leaf. Than i thought where would a leaf that big come from and I went outside and there he was a very large ready to strike scorpion. Needless to say I found and old magazine and killed it and than sprayed it wit 401 with bleach. ( Why the 401 i have no idea)

At 8:30pm last night I went and got some bug spray and sprayed the whole house!! I may need to accept scorpions as a way of like in Arizona bug I don't have to like it!!

I wish I could bury my head in the sand

Last night Doug, Martin, Roxie and I all went to a friends wedding reception.
The reception was in one of the downtown Mesa store that was converted into a reception hall but it was beautiful but the only down fall was that it echoed. We all enjoyed eating the wonderful food and chocolate cake and talking with friends but it was 7:45pm and we had to get Martin home for bed and that is when I wanted to bury my head. Martin refused to finish his cake but he didn't want to leave because he wanted to finish his chocolate cake. Finally I decided we couldn't wait any longer and that is when the screaming started. " I want to finish my chocolate cake." Over and Over and over again he shouted and the only way in or out of the reception was though one door and as we left people just stared at us. I couldn't walk fast enough out of the building and by the time we got to the car Martin was heaving in tears and still screaming about his chocolate cake.

I remember those days being single at reception and seeing parents taking their screaming kids out and thinking " MY KIDS WILL NEVER BE LIKE THAT." Ah the quite days of only worrying about who do I go out with tonight. In the end all I could do was laugh and cry . Laugh because the MY KID WILL NEVER came and bit me in the butt and CRY because well I was laughing so hard.

Martin is turning 3 on Friday so does that mean the terrible two end at 11:05 am on Friday June 19th? PLEASE PLEASE!!!

I thought Mommys aren't suppose to get sick

I always thought that when I became a mom and I got sick everyone would wait on me hand and foot! Just kidding... Well I woke up Friday morning with a sore throat but thought nothing of it and than Saturday I started to not feel not so well and Sunday morning I woke up with either no voice or the manliest sounding voice I had heard in a long time.
I was so excited for church because Doug and I were going to get set apart for our new calling but I could barely get out of bed to take care of Roxie so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be going to church. So Doug called the bishop and they will set us apart next Sunday.
Doug took care of Martin and Roxie the best he could while I would get some sleep in between the coughs and blowing my nose. Martin seem to think he could get away with a bit more than usually because i didn't have a voice. He learned fast I could still till him no with just a look!!

When I finally went to bed for the night I thought " Well it can only go up from here." HAHAHAHA Boy way I wrong.
I woke up this morning with a swollen cheeks. So on top of still feeling sick, runny nose, no voice, and a cough I have swollen cheeks. That's right my face is swollen and I have no idea why! So I know I shouldn't say thing but I truly believe things can only get better from here!!

My head is so clog
